Jüdische Familien-Forschung, the renowned journal for Jewish family research - a collection of 31 issues - Berlin, Germany, 1925–1938 Jüdische Familien-Forschung: Mitteilungen der Gesellschaft für jüdische Familien-Forschung. Edited by Dr. Arthur Czellitzer, Berlin, Germany, 1925–1938. Before us is a comprehensive collection comprising 31 issues of the historical journal Jüdische Familien-Forschung, the world's first professional platform dedicated to the genealogy and lineage research of Jewish families. The collection gathers over half of all published issues (50 issues in total) and encompasses nearly all the years of the publication's activity. The society and the journal were founded in 1924 with the vision of connecting the younger generation to its historical roots, in an attempt to halt assimilation and the ”generation gap” among European Jewry. The journal served as a pioneering platform for the publication of research methodologies, memoirs, and family trees, and was published continuously until 1938, when it was forcibly shut down due to Nazi persecution. The society's founder, Dr. Czellitzer, fled to the Netherlands but was captured and perished in the Sobibor extermination camp in 1943. Few surviving fragments from the society's estate are currently preserved in special collections, such as the Leo Baeck Institute. Accompanying the issues is a booklet featuring an official printed roster of the board members and staff (Vorstand und Mitarbeiter) of the ”Society for Jewish Family Research”, updated to January 31, 1935. The document lists the society's founder, Dr. Czellitzer, at the top of the roster, alongside the names of other committee members, including Yehoshua Friedlander of Berlin, whose articles were also published within the journal's pages. A comprehensive and rare collection, including issues from 1938 and the journal's early years. 31 issues. Good overall condition. Most issues are in a handsome, well-preserved state.
