Tehillim with Alshich commentary, Warsaw, 1875 - copy of the Gaon Rabbi Gavriel Shabtai, Dayan in heavenly Jerusalem, president of the Sephardic Orphanage in Jerusalem, one of the founders of Misgav Ladach Hospital, and among the prominent rabbis of his generation in Jerusalem. Rabbi Gavriel Shabtai, born in Salonika, which was then under the rule of the Ottoman Empire, the son of Rachel (daughter of Rabbi Moshe Milo) and Rabbi Shabtai ben Gavriel. In his youth, he received his primary education from his father. During the year 1870, he established the ”Chesed VeEmet” organization in his hometown. He was considered one of the senior Torah scholars in Salonika, and became known, among other things, due to his close ties with the Chief Rabbi of the city at the time, Rabbi Yaakov Covo. In 1877, he immigrated to the Land of Israel and settled in Jerusalem. Later, in 1880, he was appointed as a Dayan and joined the Beit Din headed by Rabbi Yosef Raphael Uziel. For a long period, he served as the administrator of the soup kitchen belonging to the Sephardic community of Jerusalem, in partnership with Rabbis Shmuel Nissim, Yosef Nissim Burla, and Shmuel Meyuchas. He was also among the group of initiators and founders of the ”Misgav Ladach” hospital. In 1907, he was elected to replace Rabbi Yaakov Meir as the president of the Sephardic Orphanage in Jerusalem, a position he held until his final day. His brother is Rabbi Chizkiya Shabtai, his son was Rabbi Chananya Gavriel, his grandson is Yaakov Yehoshua, and the author A. B. Yehoshua is his great-grandson. A few worming marks to the binding. תהלים עם פירוש האלשיך, ווארשא, תרל”ה - עותק הגאון רבי גבריאל שבתאי דיין בירושלים של מעלה, נשיא בית היתומים הספרדי בירושלים, ממייסדי בית החולים משגב לדך, ומגדולי רבני דורו בירושלים רבי גבריאל שבתאי, יליד סלוניקי, שהייתה אז תחת שלטון האימפריה העות'מאנית, בנם של רחל (בתו של הרב משה מילו) והרב שבתי בן גבריאל. בשנות צעירותו ספג את עיקר חינוכו מפי אביו. במהלך שנת 1870 (ה'תר”ל) הקים בעיר הולדתו את ארגון ”חסד ואמת”. הוא נחשב לאחד מבכירי תלמידי החכמים בסלוניקי, והתפרסם בין היתר הודות לקשריו ההדוקים עם רבה הראשי של העיר דאז, הרב יעקב קובו. בשנת ה'תרל”ז היגר לארץ ישראל וקבע את משכנו בירושלים. מאוחר יותר, בשנת ה'תר”ם, התמנה כדיין והצטרף להרכב בית הדין שבראשו עמד הרב יוסף רפאל עוזיאל. לאורך תקופה ארוכה כיהן כאחראי ניהול של קופת התמחוי השייכת לקהילה הספרדית הירושלמית, בשותפות עם הרבנים שמואל נסים, יוסף נסים בורלא ושמואל מיוחס. כמו כן, נמנה עם קבוצת היוזמים והמקימים של בית החולים ”משגב לדך”. בשנת ה'תרס”ז נבחר להחליף את הרב יעקב מאיר כנשיאו של בית היתומים הספרדי בירושלים, תפקיד בו החזיק עד ליומו האחרון. אחיו הוא הרב חזקיה שבתי, בנו היה הרב חנניה גבריאל, נכדו הוא יעקב יהושע, והסופר אברהם ב. יהושע הוא נינו. הערה בכתב יד באחרית הספר.  432 עמודים. מצב הדפים טוב ושמור. פגמי זמן בכריכה. סימני תילוע אחדים בכריכה.
