Mourning and eulogy issue on the passing of the founder of the Daf Yomi and Rosh Yeshiva of Chachmei Lublin, the Gaon Rabbi Meir Shapiro - Kol Yisrael, Jerusalem, 1933. The issue features a description of the final days of the great deceased, including a chilling account of his final hours when he asked his students to carry his sickbed to the large hall adjacent to the Beit Midrash, where the students passed before him and wished him life. However, as the hours progressed, his illness worsened and the chapters of Psalms that the students cried out in the Yeshiva sanctuary ascended to heaven together with the pure soul of their rabbi. Extensive coverage of the heavy mourning across all the Jewish diaspora, the eulogies and the funeral in his city of Lublin, where he was escorted throughout the town by over 7,000 people, to the sound of the weeping of the Jewish masses upon the departure of a Torah scroll from among them. On behalf of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, Rabbi Menachem Ziemba ZT”L delivered a eulogy, in which he extolled the Daf Yomi enterprise that he bestowed upon the entire Jewish people, by virtue of whose power and merit until this very time the masses of the House of Israel engage daily in the study of the Daf.
