WWII Lockheed P-38 Lightning Trench Art Aircraft Model - Handcrafted World War II era trench art model of a Lockheed P-38 Lightning twin-engine fighter aircraft. The model is constructed from various military scrap materials including spent ammunition and sheet metal. The central fuselage and twin engine nacelles are fashioned from large-caliber bullet projectiles. The wings, horizontal stabilizers, and three-bladed propellers are hand-cut from sheet metal. The aircraft is elevated on a central support pillar made from a spent shell casing, which is soldered to a square metal base. The base features a circular perimeter of approximately 18 upright bullet projectiles soldered into place. The underside of the base is fitted with three small spherical feet and shows evidence of manual soldering.
