Late 19th Century Pierced Cast Iron Plaque Attributed to Coalbrookdale - A circular openwork plaque featuring four classical vignettes arranged around a central sunburst medallion. The vignettes depict mythological scenes, including a reclining female figure riding a sea creature at the top and a male figure in combat with a beast at the base. The side panels feature figures nestled within intricate scrolling frameworks. The entire composition is encased in a wide border of pierced foliate and acanthus leaf motifs. The piece is cast with fine detail and finished with a dark bronzed patina.
