The item is manufactured from a heavy copper-based alloy, most likely bronze, and finished with a dark brown to black chemical patina. Wear is evident on the high points of the sculpture, including the ears, snout, and paws, revealing the underlying lighter golden-toned metal. Traces of greenish verdigris oxidation are visible within the recessed areas of the ears and at the base.
