These plugs were manufactured by the Spitler Puncture Plug Company, Inc., which was located at 1790 Broadway, New York, N.Y. Each of the four brass plugs is stamped with circular text reading SPITLER PUNCTURE PLUG NEW YORK PATD MAY 11 15. The center installation tool features stamped characters reading B W S, D-, and MASS. The interior paper backing card is printed with the text SPITLERS PUNCTURE PLUGS. The outer box label includes the patent date of May 11, 1915, the original retail price of $1.00, and handwritten ink provenance identifying the seller as J. D. Powell of Richwood, Ohio.
