First edition.  Black pebbled buckram with silver lettering on the front cover.  This multi-lingual work is comprised of countless clandestine photographs taken in the Lodz Ghetto during the Holocaust by Polish-Jewish photographer and journalist Henryk Ross (1910-1991). these were burried in a metal box and were unearthed after the holocaust. The images here provide invaluable and powerful photo-documentation of the daily life of residents and their struggles to survive the harsh conditions of the ghetto. Ross was one of the witnesses at the Eichman trial and several of these photographs were used by the prosecution as incriminating evidence. All images captioned in English, Hebrew, Yiddish, German, French and Polish. Page 8 contains a map of the ghetto in black.
