Ecléctica Leilões, Oct 16. 70 lots, estimates 6 - 400 €.

Ecléctica Leilões - Private Collection & Other Provenances brings together 70 lots of books and documents that span the history of Portugal and its overseas territories. The largest group is devoted to studies on Portuguese Africa and the East, and to texts on navigation and cosmography from the Age of Discoveries, in editions from the Junta de Investigações do Ultramar and the Agência Geral do Ultramar. Liberalism and the Civil War are represented by Soriano's nineteen-volume História, the collected decrees of the Regency on Terceira Island, the 1826 Gazeta de Lisboa and a manuscript register of official letters from the Porto Post Office (1828-1832). Religious scholarship of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries appears in works such as Eusebius of Caesarea's Church History (1675) and Torniello's Annales Sacri (1756). The catalogue is completed by Portuguese literary journals, studies on heraldry, goldsmithing and tiles, and foreign editions of Cuvier, Laborde and Turpin de Crissé.
