Two Eneix, New Geneva, Pennsylvania Salt Glazed Stoneware Canning Jars
Two Pennsylvania Cobalt Blue Stencil Decorated Salt Glazed Stoneware Canning Jars, Circa 1875. Each jar of tapered cylindrical form with a tooled shoulder below a shaped rim, the larger jar with stencil decoration inscribed, "ENEIX / & / FRANKENBERRY / NEW GENEVA / PA", the smaller with stencil decoration inscribed, "ENEIX & EVANS / NEW / GENEVA. / PA." Each having an Albany slip interior.
Dimensions: Heights 8in and 9 3/4in.
Provenance: Property from a Buck County, Pennsylvania Private Collection.
Condition:
Typical marks and wear commensurate with age and use. Discoloration from the kiln overall. Imperfections from manufacture throughout. The larger jar with two small hairlines at the rim. The smaller appears to be in generally good condition overall.
