John P. Eberhart, New Geneva Stoneware Crock and Stoneware Kiln Stilts
A Pennsylvania Cobalt Blue Stencil Decorated Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock, John P. Eberhart, New Geneva, Circa 1875. The low cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and tooled collar above stencil decoration inscribed, "JOHN P. EBERHART & CO. / NEW GENEVA. PA." Having an Albany slip interior. Together with three stoneware kiln stilts. (4)
Dimensions: Height of crock 6in; diameter of 8 3/4in; Diameters of stoneware stilts 5in and 6in.
Provenance: Property from a Buck County, Pennsylvania Private Collection.
Condition:
There is a 3" vertical hairline crack to the reverse of the crock. Typical marks and wear commensurate with age and use. Discoloration from the kiln overall. Imperfections from manufacture throughout. The kiln stilts are in generally good condition overall.
