Collection of Ancient Manuscripts from Salonika and Morocco – Most of Them from the 18th Century / Ladino Eulogy for the Baron Hirsch
A collection of manuscripts, parts of letters, testimonies for the Beit Din and more. Written in Hebrew and Ladino. Most of them were written in Salonika, during the 18th-19th centuries.
Among others:
Seven leaves handwritten by Rabbi Chaim Menashe (the son of Rabbi Shimon Menashe the author of 'Shem Mi'Shimon') – indices of the book 'Yarim Moshe' by the Kabbalist Rabbi Moshe Castro – Salonika, 1890.
Rabbi Chaim Menashe proofread the book by Rabbi Moshe Castro even before the book was published and his glosses were printed in the book. After the printing of the book, Rabbi Chaim Menashe wrote its indices.
These indices which are handwritten by Rabbi Chaim Menashe were never printed.
Rabbi Chaim Menashe was the scribe of the Chief Rabbi of Salonika, like his father and grandfather before him. He published his father's book "Shem Mi'Shimon".
Condition: Good. Time stains. The margins of the leaves are slightly torn.
Ladino manuscript – Eulogy for the Baron Maurice (Moshe) Hirsch – 1896

He set up charitable foundations to promote Jewish education and improve the lot of oppressed European Jewry. He was the founder of the Jewish Colonization Association, which sponsored large-scale Jewish immigration to Argentina during the 19th century.
Condition: Fair. The leaf is cut into several parts at the folding marks, with no omission of text.
