Lechem Starim. Elucidation on Daniel and Chamesh Megillot. Venice [1608]
By the Rav of the Holy Alshich and Rabbi Shlomo Elkabetz- Rabbi Yosef Taitchak.  First Edition.

Sefer Lechem Starim, an elucidation of Chamesh Megillot and the Book of Daniel,
Edited by Rabbi Shmuel ben Amram, who added some of his own.

The Posek and Mekubal Rabbi Yosef Taitchak [1465-1546]: one of the leading Mekubalim, Poskim and Rosh Yeshivas after the Expulsion from Spain. The friend of Rabbi Levy ben Chaviv. Established a large yeshiva in Salonika and his students included the Alshich hakadosh, the Maharashdam, Rabbi Shlomo Elkabetz, Rabbi Eliezer Ashkenazi and the Divrei Rivot. Is mentioned in the book Maggid Meisharim by Rabbeinu the Beit Yosef, Rabbi Yosef Karo and in the Beit Yosef as well. The Beit Yosef said of him that he was: 'אור ישראל וקדושו עטרת בני הגולה העומד לנס עמים ולצפירת תפארה'. Some scholars believe that the Beit Yosef himself was one of his disciples. The Chida wrote of him that he himself was worthy of authoring the Shulchan Aruch. Responded to questions by leading contemporary rabbis such as the Beit Yosef, as stated, the Radach, the Mahari Ben Lev and more. Had vast knowledge of Kabbalah. Passed away in Kushta.
