"He who returns to his folly is a fool"; [2] letters by Rabbi Shemaya Luria to the press, have not been published. 1934-1941.

Notifications of mistaken publications, in letter to the HaAretz newspaper, by Rabbi Shemaya Luria. 1934-1941.

[2] leaves, 23X15 cm.

* "Everyone admits that he is a fool" - a response to an article by Rabbi Yaakov Lifshitz, the Rav of Ness Ziona, "Bialik's Commentary on the Mishnayos" (HaAretz, the 15th of Av 1934), praising Bialik's commentary on Mishnayos Seder Zera'im. At the end of his article, Rabbi Yaakov Lifshitz wrote that "justifiably he can be called what the Rogochover Gaon Rabbi Yosef Ruzhin said of him that 'Bialik is one of the greatest Torah scholars [Lamdan]'". Rabbi Shemaya Luria writes that the Rogochover Gaon never met Bialik and certainly did not say such things.

In fact, on 17.12.1932, there was a meeting between the Rogochover Gaon and Bialik, which lasted for an hour. The meeting between the well-known Hebrew poet and the famed Gaon was mentioned in the memoirs of students of the yeshiva of Dvinsk who were close to the Gaon and in contemporary press, including Doar Hayom (the 2nd of Shevas 1933), Der Morgen Journal (the 23rd of Kislev 1933), Davar (the 14th of Nissan 1935) and more. In some of the articles it was written that the Gaon seemingly said of Bialik that he was a Torah scholar. This information was brought to the Gaon's attention and he denied it vigorously, writing: "I did not say of him any praise, all the more so that he is a scholar, G-d forbid that such will be said. He only met with me ...". This denial by the Gaon was mentioned in an article in Doar Hayom on the 6th of Tishrei 1933.

Rabbi Yaakov Gol (Lifshitz) (1907-1990) a student of the Etz Chaim Yeshiva of Jerusalem, who received a Hora'ah Semicha, studied at the Hebrew University and earned a PhD degree in linguistics. Served as Rosh Yeshiva and Dayan in Tiberius, as the Rav of Ness Ziona and as the Chief Rabbi of the Jewish Brigade. Was a member of the first Knesset on behalf of the General Zionists.

* I am surprised with the editorial staff of HaAretz ... all the details that appear in the article ... are the words of those who like to complain and there is not even a shred of truth in them " - denial of what was claimed by the newspaper about the rift in Agudas Yisroel and the events of the congress of Agudas Yisroel that took place in Iyar 1941 on the roof of the Babad Hotel. The writer emphasizes that the goal of the congress was only to prepare for the national conference of the movement that was to take place in Petach Tikvah in Sivan 1941.

Rabbi Shmuel Shemaya ben Rabbi Zvi Luria (1905-1989), aan activist of Agudas Yisroel, one of the editors of the newspaper of the movement, Kol Yisroel, and one of the leaders of the Beis Yaakov educational system in Israel, a supervisor of the independent Chareidi education and one of the leaders of the Slonim Chassidim of Jerusalem. Was the brother of the great Tzaddikim, the Slonim Chassidim Rabbi Aharon Yosef Luria and Rabbi Yitzchak Matisyahu Luria.

Enclosed with this item are copies of the original articles, to which Rabbi Shemaya Luria had responded.
