Byzantine Handled Vessel with Warrior Saints
6th-9th century AD
A substantial bronze ewer with drum-shaped body, broad shoulder, wide neck and cap with retaining chain, strap handle to the rear with decorative bronze fixtures, collar with three repoussé panels depicting mounted nimbate figures. 990 grams, 24cm (9 1/4"). Fine condition.
