Ecléctica Leilões - One hundred lots devoted to the history of Portuguese expansion, with a particular focus on the Estado da Índia and the India Route, from fleets and fortresses to administration, justice and diplomacy in the East. A remarkable group of overland itineraries between India and Portugal stands out, led by the first edition of Father Manuel Godinho's Relação do Novo Caminho (Lisbon, 1665), alongside the 1842 and 1944 editions and the accounts of António Tenreiro, Mestre Afonso and Friar Gaspar de São Bernardino. Sixteenth-century nautical science is represented by João de Lisboa's Livro de Marinharia and the rutters of D. João de Castro, and Asian sources by Zinadim's Arabic chronicle of the Malabar coast, translated by David Lopes. The sale is completed by several bibliographical reference works, two rare Portuguese fencing treatises (1804 and 1842) and the complete first edition of the Abade de Baçal's Memórias Arqueológico-Históricas do Distrito de Bragança.
