Ecléctica Leilões - Auction 622 brings together a private collection of broad scope, with an exceptionally coherent nucleus of original royal diplomas from the reigns of D. José I and D. Maria I — Pombaline and post-Pombaline legislation covering colonial trade, manufactures, book censorship, educational reform and military organisation, loose leaves with trim marks. Among the early printed books, the highlight is the last and most complete edition of Agostino Torniello's Annales Sacri (Lucca, 1756, 4 vols. in large folio), with 20 engravings and 5 folding maps, alongside the Comedia Ulysippo by Jorge Ferreira de Vasconcelos (Lisbon, Academia Real das Sciências, 1787), a rare survival of Portuguese humanist theatre. Further highlights include the 1775 edition of Saint-Lambert's Les Saisons with engravings by Moreau le Jeune, Cuvier's Discours (Paris, 1825), key reference works on Portuguese language and culture, and the CTT Discoveries series.
